In what will surely send shockwaves through the Michigan and Oakland County political establishment, Jim Nicholson has announced that he will be the Michigan Straight Talk America Finance Chairman. Nicholson was a 2004 Ranger and a 2000 Pioneer on the Bush campaign. He also ran against Ronna Romney for the U.S. Senate in 1996. Nicholson: "McCain has the foreign policy expertise and ability to help lead our nation in these critical times. We will put together a top-notch fundraising operation that will be second to none" in MI "and across the country (Hotline)."
Nicholson and Ambassador Ron Weiser are known to be the two best fundraisers in the state. Ambassador Weiser, the Michigan GOP Finance Chair, has already signed with Michigan Straight Talk America.
This must come as disappointing news to Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who has tried so hard to recruit Michigan's best for his potential presidential campaign. This is yet another example of Senator McCain's ability to court the top Bush supporters from 2000 and 2004.
